UOITC, in cooperation with the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers and ESCWA, holds a workshop on digital transformation strategies and applications

The Coordination and Management of Government Activity Committee in the direction of the establishment of e-government in the Secretariat General of the Council of Ministers and in cooperation with the University of Information Technology and Communications and ESCWA organized a workshop on digital transformation strategies and applications.

The workshop was attended by a group of Arab researchers as well as professors from the University of Information Technology and Communication, representatives of the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers , some agents and representatives of Iraqi ministries, bodies and universities and those interested in information technology.

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Communications, Dr. Amir Bayati, gives a speech on behalf of the Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, “the importance of establishing such workshops, which come in line with the aims of the State and the Iraqi government within its program of digital transformation and the automation of communications in all departments of the state, which contributes significantly towards the achievement of gross domestic product and open Great work horizons for many graduates and the development of administrative work in all departments of the state. ”

Al-Bayati added that this workshop achieves two goals in addition to the scientific value is to benefit from the potential of the ESCWA organization and to inform the organization by virtue of their role and position in international forums on what is in Iraq and provide all the data that make Iraq advanced in the field of transformation.

A committee formed by the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers has been working diligently to establish a number of workshops and has worked on the establishment of electronic governance infrastructure, headed by one of its teams, Dr. Abbas Bakri, Infrastructure, applications and management teams.

The President of the University , Dr. Abbas Mohsen al-Bakri, said that “the coordinating and managing government
committee activity towards the establishment of e-government in the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers has adopted a program of work and within different axes.

The President of the University announced the launching of the sustainable training program for digital transformation through the workshop “Digital Transformation: Strategies and Implementation” in coordination with ESCWA. He stressed the importance of training, which represents an important link in communication, management and awareness of the innovations that accompany digital transformation. Thea mechanism of hosting the national data, noting that the training program will be open to partnership with specialized staff from home and abroad in line with the data in the mechanism of transformation.

For his part, ESCWA representative Dr. Haider Freihat pointed out that the organization aims to achieve a set of objectives, including stimulating economic and social development in member countries, enhancing interaction and cooperation, encouraging exchange of information, good practices and lessons learned, and achieving regional integration between the Arab region and other regions. In addition to informing the world of the conditions and needs of the countries of the region, which will focus on ESCWA to convey the best picture of what is the technology in Iraq.

The second session focused on the indicators of the digital government (international and regional indicators). The third session discussed national initiatives and achievements, during the sessions, discussion was raised between the audience and the presenters.

On the second day of the workshop, the workshop discussed the best practices in the digital government strategies. Some examples were discussed from the Arab region and beyond. The fifth session dealt with the future national vision and a session on a national road map for the digital government strategy.
