Assist. Lect. Muhammad Abdul Ameer Jabbar from the University’s Department of Scientific Affairs participated in the Second International Conference on Emerging Trends and Applications of Artificial Intelligence (ICETAI), held at Al-Farahidi University in Iraq and sponsored by Springer Publishing House. The lecturer’s participation came through the publication of his research titled “Lightweight-VGG Model for Fruit Agricultural Pest Recognition: A New Deep Learning Method for Constrained Devices.”
The research paper presented a new automated system that included developing a lightweight algorithm more suitable for restricted devices (IOT) using artificial intelligence, specifically convolutional neural networks, to classify pests in agricultural crops, which is used in smart factories for fruit classification and canning. It should be noted that this conference is jointly organized by the Universities of Medipol and Karabük in Türkiye.
