The Electronic Computing Center at the University of Information Technology and Communications (UoITC) organized a specialized training workshop titled “Managing Electronic Journals.”
The workshop was presented by the Center’s lecturer, Asst. Lecturer Safaa Jawad Alwan.

The workshop, attended by a number of staff members from the College of Engineering and the College of Biomedical Informatics, aimed to qualify academic and technical personnel in the field of electronic journal management, in preparation for launching specialized scientific journals for each college. This initiative is part of the university’s efforts to promote a culture of academic publishing and enhance the quality of research outputs.

The workshop also included a practical and detailed explanation of the steps involved in managing scientific electronic journals — starting from setting up the publishing environment on the dedicated server, preparing the journal structure, and editing scientific materials, to explaining the mechanisms of indexing in local and international databases. It was concluded with a presentation of the main technical and administrative challenges faced by editorial teams in managing academic journals.

At the end of the workshop, a broad discussion took place on best practices for developing scientific journals and improving publication quality in line with international standards, emphasizing the importance of employing modern technologies to support research and academic processes within the university.
