The University of Information Technology participated in the National Scientific Conference entitled “The Role of Educational Institutions in Combating Drug Abuse,” which was hosted by His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi. The conference was organized by the Research Department and the College of Islamic Sciences at the Iraqi University, marking the launch of the Anti-Drug Week activities.

The university’s delegation was headed by Dr. Yasser Majid Darjal, Director of the Psychological Events Division, and included several faculty members. The university presented a collection of awareness-raising artworks on combating drugs and their harmful effects, highlighting the role of technology and noting its contribution to reducing the spread of this phenomenon through digital solutions and technologies.

The conference included various events featuring artistic and theatrical performances, as well as an art exhibition showcasing the work of participating awareness poster artists. Dr. Lubna Khamis Mahdi, Director of the Research Association, attended as a representative of His Excellency the Minister.

The most important exhibition featured insightful presentations and awareness materials focused on combating the culture of drug abuse and confronting the dangers of drug proliferation. This was achieved through media and community collaboration, reflecting the responsibility of educational institutions in supporting community security.

At the conclusion of the conference, the President of the Iraqi University, Professor Dr. Ali Saleh Al-Jubouri, presented a conference shield to our university’s delegation in recognition of their participation.
