With the aim of enhancing security awareness and reinforcing the principles of moderate thinking among university students, the College of Business Informatics at the University of Information Technology and Communications, in coordination with the National Security Service, organized an awareness seminar titled “Countering Violent Extremism Leading to Terrorism”.
The seminar was held under the patronage of the College Deanship and in coordination with the National Security Service / University Security Directorate. It addressed a number of important topics, including defining extremism, its most prominent causes and methods, as well as outlining its dangers to society—especially to students. The seminar also reviewed prevention mechanisms and ways of dealing with this phenomenon, in addition to highlighting the vital role of students in reporting incidents and contributing to the spread of awareness.
The representatives of the National Security Service emphasized during the seminar the necessity of strengthening the partnership between educational institutions and security agencies to protect young people from extremist ideas, reinforce national values, and enhance students’ sense of belonging. The seminar witnessed notable engagement through questions and discussions, reflecting growing awareness and interest in understanding the dangers of extremism and ways to confront it.
