The Intelligent Medical Systems Department at the Biomedical Informatics College recorded a new successful story, after the fourth-year student Basma Hani’s project entitled “SignVision: Communication Bridge in Sign Language” was chosen among the distinguished projects in the Fourth Innovations Exhibition, to be one of the success stories participating in the Leadership and Innovation Festival 2025-2026, which is held by the Ministry of Youth and Sports / Directorate General of Scientific Welfare, and under the supervision of the its Head, Zainab Al-Qudsi.

The SignVision project is an intelligent system based on artificial intelligence and deep learning techniques, which works to translate hand signals into Arabic texts, then convert them into audible sound, which contributes to enable deaf and mute people to communicate easily with society. The project aims to provide a practical tool that translates sign language into clear and understandable text and audio content.

The project carried the slogan “A sign is said, a word is heard, and a bridge is built,” to embody a humanitarian vision towards building a comprehensive society in which sign language is a bridge for communication, not a barrier. The SignVision project is considered an advanced model of the college’s efforts to prepare its students to work in areas of humanitarian and societal impact, especially in supporting people of determination.
