The activities of the Ninth Annual International Conference titled “Modern Trends in Information and Communication Technology Applications” (NTICT’25) were launched. The conference was organized by the University of Information Technology and Communications, in cooperation with Al-Zahraa University for Women in Karbala, and was held under the auspices of the international publishing house Springer on 17–18 December 2025. The conference witnessed wide participation by scientific and academic elites from inside and outside Iraq.
The conference witnessed a remarkable presence of researchers, academics, and specialists in the fields of information and communication technology and artificial intelligence, serving as a solid scientific platform for the exchange of expertise and the discussion of the latest developments and global trends in this vital field.
Professor Dr. Abbas Mohsen Al-Bakri, Chair of the Conference Preparatory Committee, emphasized in his speech during the opening ceremony that NTICT’25 reflects the university’s commitment to supporting scientific research and strengthening its role in addressing global challenges, as well as building a more secure and sustainable future through the effective use of artificial intelligence applications and information and communication technologies
He added that the conference brings together researchers from various countries to discuss the latest scientific and technological trends, expressing his hope to meet again with researchers at the next edition, NTICT’26.
Al-Bakri explained that the conference received 116 scientific research papers, all of which underwent rigorous evaluation and peer-review procedures. The results led to the acceptance of 40 papers, with an acceptance rate of 37%, reflecting the solid scientific quality of the participating research.
For her part, Dr. Zainab Al-Sultani, President of Al-Zahraa University (PBUH) for Women, expressed in her address at the conference her pride in hosting this international scientific event. She affirmed that the partnership with the University of Information Technology and Communications represents an important step toward making the university a scientific and research platform that brings together scholars, researchers, and specialists to discuss modern trends in the applications of information and communication technology.
She added that the conference contributes to linking scientific research with practical application and strengthening academic partnerships between educational institutions and various sectors, particularly in the fields of artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and big data analytics, which have become fundamental pillars in supporting various technological disciplines.
The first day of the conference featured keynote addresses by a number of international speakers specializing in technology and artificial intelligence. This was followed by the launch of the first and second research sessions, during which participating researchers presented their scientific papers on modern technology applications, information systems, and artificial intelligence.
Meanwhile, the scientific activities continued on the second day through specialized scientific sessions and keynote talks by experts and researchers, who discussed the most prominent recent global developments and trends in the fields of information and communication technology, emphasizing the importance of employing research outcomes in the service of society and sustainable development.
NTICT’25 is part of the University of Information Technology and Communications’ ongoing efforts to strengthen its academic and scientific standing and to solidify its role in supporting scientific research while fostering openness and collaboration with local and international universities and research institutions.
