The University of Information Technology and Communications has achieved a new national and academic milestone by officially entering the Arab University Ranking (ARU) in its third edition for 2025. The university ranked 14th locally out of 63 classified Iraqi universities and 115th regionally, positioning itself within the top quarter of elite Iraqi universities at the Arab level.

This edition of the ranking witnessed unprecedented academic competition, with the participation of 285 Arab universities, of which only 235 met the stringent ranking criteria. Iraq was notably represented by 63 universities, reflecting a clear increase in national interest in quality standards and Arab academic accreditation.

Achieving this advanced position is a qualitative accomplishment for a specialized university, which has managed to compete with and surpass several comprehensive and prestigious universities, showcasing the clarity of its strategic vision and the effectiveness of its academic and research policies.

The Arab University Ranking relies on an advanced scientific methodology that measures the performance of university institutions across four main axes consisting of 36 sub-indicators, including: scientific research (40%), education and learning (30%), creativity, leadership, and innovation (15%), and international cooperation and community service (15%). The Quality Assurance Department, represented by the Global Rankings Unit, confirmed that this progress is the result of integrated institutional work and well-studied strategic plans aimed at establishing the university’s position among reputable Arab universities. This ranking not only represents a number in the ranking scale but also serves as an Arab and international testament to the quality of education and scientific research at the university, embodying its ongoing commitment to serving and developing the technology sector and supporting pathways for innovation and sustainable development.
