In a strategic step reflecting its commitment to supporting the comprehensive digital transformation track, the University of Information Technology and Communications, in cooperation with the National Center for Digital Transformation, launched the first training workshop for the National Open Government Portal, as an integrated digital platform that represents a new starting point in managing government data and utilizing it efficiently to serve the public interest.

The workshop aims to embed the concepts of government data governance, raise awareness of data quality policies, introduce participants to the concept of open data and datasets, as well as review successful international experiences and provide hands-on training on using the portal.

The President of the University, Professor Dr. Abbas Mohsen Al-Bakri, stated during the workshop that “the launch of the National Open Government Portal represents a qualitative shift in the course of digital transformation in Iraq. It establishes the foundation for a new phase of transparency and maximizes the utilization of government data in a way that supports decision-makers, enhances citizens’ trust in institutions, and opens broad horizons for research, innovation, and sustainable development”.

He added that the University is moving forward in utilizing its academic and technical expertise, in partnership with the National Center for Digital Transformation, to support the development of a modern national data ecosystem that aligns with international standards and serves the public interest.
