The Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Biomedical Informatics, University of Information Technology and Communications, held an awareness-raising discussion session titled “No to Silence… Together to Combat Violence Against Women.” The session was presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Heba Adel Mahdi, Head of the Women’s Affairs Unit.
The session aimed to define the concept of violence against women and highlight its primary types and negative impacts on both individuals and society. It also addressed the challenges faced by survivors of violence, as well as the obstacles that may hinder efforts to combat this phenomenon.
The discussion emphasized the importance of spreading social awareness and fostering a culture that rejects silence regarding cases of violence. It encouraged reporting such incidents and working to reduce them, contributing to the development of a more conscious society that respects women’s rights and preserves their dignity. This discussion session is part of the college’s ongoing awareness-raising efforts to promote a culture of respect for women and combat violence through community education and outreach in this field.
