Under the attendance of the President of the University of Information Technology and Communications (UOITC), Prof. Dr. Abbas Mohsen Al-Bakri, and under the supervision and sponsorship of the Dean of the Informatics Institute for Postgraduate Studies, Prof. Dr. Suha Mohammed Hadi, the Informatics Institute organized its 4th Annual Scientific Forum held under the theme:
”Applied Research for Developing the Digital Infrastructure of Iraqi Ministries.”
The forum witnessed an extensive official and academic presence, featuring a select group of members of parliament and university presidents, alongside representatives from Iraqi ministries and institutions. Key attendees included MP Dr. Maha Mahmoud Al-Alwani, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research for Scientific Affairs, Prof. Dr. Haider Abid Dhahad, the Prime Minister’s Advisor, Dr. Hussein Flamurz Taher, the President of Al-Farabi University, Asst. Prof. Dr. Muhannad Mahdi Al-Jubouri, and the Head of the Security Media Cell, Major General Dr. Saad Maan, in addition to several academics, researchers, and specialists.
In his speech, the President of UOITC, Prof. Dr. Abbas Mohsen Al-Bakri, emphasized the pivotal role played by the university and the Informatics Institute in supporting digital transformation pathways. He highlighted the adoption of academic and research foundations that contribute to building effective digital solutions to meet institutional development requirements in Iraq.
For his part, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research for Scientific Affairs, Prof. Dr. Haider Abid Dhahad, praised the scientific role of the Informatics Institute for Postgraduate Studies in enriching the academic and research sectors with rigorous studies, affirming the university’s role as a hub for technology and innovation.
Furthermore, the Dean of the Informatics Institute, Prof. Dr. Suha Mohammed Hadi, stressed the importance of the applied research conducted by the institute’s Master’s and PhD students. She underlined the necessity of employing these innovative studies within various state institutions to address existing challenges through creative and sustainable digital solutions.
Additionally, the Prime Minister’s Advisor, Dr. Hussein Flamurz Taher, affirmed the significant role of Iraqi universities, particularly UOITC and the Informatics Institute, in supplying the labor market with qualified young talent. He noted that higher education outcomes represent a fundamental pillar in supporting development plans and building a workforce capable of keeping pace with technological advancements and contemporary demands.
