The College of Engineering at the University of Information Technology and Communications organized a workshop titled “Classroom Lesson Design with Artificial Intelligence: Using NotebookLM as a Model for Source-Based Preparation,” presented by Assistant Lecturers Atheer Marouf and Sarah Hashim, with the participation of a number of faculty members interested in developing teaching methods and integrating artificial intelligence tools into the university environment.
The workshop reviewed the mechanisms of using the NotebookLM tool to organize and analyze educational resources and transform them into elements of an integrated classroom lesson, starting from identifying the main idea and key concepts, through preparing the introduction, presenting the content and designing classroom activities, to assessment methods and the preparation of supporting materials.
The workshop also focused on the importance of distinguishing between the general use of artificial intelligence tools and educational preparation based on reliable sources, contributing to enhancing the quality of lesson planning, ensuring scientific accuracy, and maintaining alignment with the approved content.
The workshop included a live practical demonstration showing how to employ multiple sources, such as textbooks, educational links, and video clips, in preparing a well-organized classroom lesson aligned with learning objectives, with emphasizing the necessity of human review of AI-generated outputs and avoiding direct reliance on them without careful verification.
