The College of Engineering at the University of Information Technology and Communications (UOITC) marked a prominent academic milestone by hosting its very first Master’s thesis defense. The defense took place within the Mobile Communications Engineering Master’s Program under the Department of Communications and Mobile Computing Engineering, a step that reflects the college’s success in establishing postgraduate programs and enhancing its academic and research trajectory.The Master’s student, Fatima Asaad Hikmat, defended her thesis titled:“Deep Reinforcement Learning-Based Optimization for Dynamic Resource Allocation in 5G Mobile Networks”The research focused on employing deep reinforcement learning techniques to develop intelligent mechanisms for optimizing dynamic resource allocation in fifth-generation (5G) networks. This aims to boost network efficiency and improve quality of service (QoS), aligns with the latest global trends in communications engineering.Following the defense, the examination committee—comprising Professor Dr. Jaafar Azhab Ankoood (Chair), Professor Dr. Moayad Abdul-Reza Sahib (Member and Supervisor), Professor Dr. Mushtaq Ahmed Ali (Member), and Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Najdi Abdullah (Member)—awarded the student a Master’s degree with Distinction (Excellent), in the presence of several college faculty members, researchers, and instructors.This defense represents the inaugural fruit of the postgraduate program at the College of Engineering. It reflects the college’s commitment to supporting scientific research and preparing engineering talents capable of keeping pace with rapid developments in communications, information technology, and artificial intelligence, thereby reinforcing the university’s status as a leading academic institution in education and scientific research.
