The Computer Center at the University of Information Technology and Communications hosted a delegation from the Ministry of Defense to discuss a potential partnership in the fields of artificial intelligence and digital transformation, and to leverage the technical capabilities the university offers through its specialized projects.

A meeting involving the Director of the Computer Center, Assist. Lect. Osama Sameer; the Head of the University’s Smart Cities Division, Assist. Lect. Hussein Mohammed; and a delegation from the Ministry of Defence explored the potential of utilizing the “Dijlah” AI project model to support electronic systems and efficiently process data and local terminology, and the discussions also addressed mechanisms for developing applications and digital assistants designed to enhance services and facilitate intelligent data analysis.

The two sides also discussed prospects for cooperation in the field of digital sovereignty and the development of local artificial intelligence solutions to reduce reliance on external platforms, while emphasizing the importance of protecting data privacy and strengthening national capabilities in modern digital technologies.

The university developed the “Dijlah” smart assistant within the Smart UOITC application—through the efforts of the technical team in the Smart Cities Division—to serve as a smart platform that automates administrative and academic tasks, drafts official correspondence, searches and summarizes documents, and facilitates the completion of daily duties using artificial intelligence technologies, thereby fostering digital transformation and enhancing institutional performance efficiency.
