The University of Information Technology and Communications (UOITC) has achieved a significant advancement in the global UI GreenMetric World University Rankings for the year 2026. The university climbed five positions at the national level, securing the 79th rank in Iraq, compared to the 84th position in last year’s ranking.
This advancement comes amid the participation of 92 Iraqi universities in the ranking. Globally, the university secured the 1719th position out of 2,016 participating universities from 110 countries worldwide included in this year’s edition.
The UI GreenMetric ranking evaluates university performance in sustainability and environmental fields based on six main criteria: Setting and Infrastructure, Energy and Climate Change, Waste, Water, Transportation, and Education and Research.
The university’s local advancement reflects its continuous efforts to enhance performance across sustainability indicators and promote environmental practices within the campus. Furthermore, it highlights the university’s keenness to solidify its presence in international rankings and continue working towards improving its position across various ranking metrics.
