Prof. Dr. Abbas Mohsen Al-Bakri, President of the University of Information Technology and Communications, participated in the Golden Jubilee celebration held in the capital, Baghdad, marking the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Federation of Arab Scientific Research Councils.

The ceremony was attended by His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Nizar Amedi; Acting Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Abdul Hussein Al-Mousawi; and Secretary-General of the Federation, Dr. Abdelmajid Ben Amara; alongside a number of university presidents, scientific research council leaders, academic executives, researchers, and Arab experts.

The event highlighted the importance of strengthening Arab scientific and research cooperation and expanding partnerships among universities, research centers, and scientific institutions.

These efforts aim to keep pace with rapid transformations in science, technology, artificial intelligence, and innovation, while translating scientific research outcomes into practical applications and solutions that serve development across Arab nations.

Speeches delivered during the ceremony emphasized Iraq’s vital role in supporting the journey of the Federation of Arab Scientific Research Councils, particularly as Baghdad hosts the Federation’s headquarters.

This reinforces the city’s standing within the framework of joint Arab scientific action and opens broader horizons for exchanging expertise and establishing collaborative research programs and projects.
The participation of the University’s President reflects the institution’s commitment to enhancing its presence in Arab scientific and academic forums and broadening cooperation with universities, research centers, and institutions—especially in the fields of information and communications technology, artificial intelligence, and digital transformation..
