The College of Engineering at the University of Information Technology and Communications, in collaboration with the Center for Continuing Education, held a scientific seminar entitled “Promoting a Culture of Strategic Thinking and Planning in Higher Education Institutions”. The seminar was organized as part of the College’s efforts to strengthen institutional culture and enhance academic and administrative efficiency.

The seminar was delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Ola Adel Qasim, who highlighted the importance of embedding a culture of strategic thinking within the university environment and its role in establishing a clear institutional vision that contributes to improving performance and enhancing the quality of higher education.

The seminar addressed several key topics, most notably the distinction between strategic thinking and strategic planning; the importance of effective leadership and participatory governance; the involvement of faculty members in institutional decision-making; and the use of data and performance indicators to determine priorities and translate strategic objectives into practical outcomes that can be measured and evaluated.

The seminar also emphasized the importance of strengthening teamwork, addressing institutional challenges, and adopting a culture of continuous development in line with the requirements of academic efficiency and effectiveness, while keeping pace with the rapid changes in the higher education sector. It further highlighted the need to develop strategic thinking and planning skills among academic and administrative staff, thereby contributing to improved institutional performance, enhanced quality of higher education, and the achievement of sustainable development goals.
