A 3 days training workshop has been launched in University of Information Technology and Communications in cooperation with Prime Ministry about “Data and Cyber Security.
Many researchers from different governmental facilities, ministries, private sector companies, Iraqi universities and people with interest about Information, have participated in the workshop.

The Secretary General of Prime Ministry, Mr. Hameed Al- Ghazzi, in his speech, has pointed to the “importance of keeping up with the vast developments in Informatics and make use of highly developed e-governments’ experiences, which makes is important for the high authorities in governmental foundations to cooperation with academic excellences to make good use of available resources”.

Mr. Al-Ghazzi has also assured that the government is making scientific steps toward achieving an electronic government, and have had many meetings in specialized aspects, such as the legal/ Legislative aspect which is responsible for organizing legal and political basics that are concerned with e-government in order to prepare a final legal framework for the e-government program.

The University’s President, Prof. Dr. Abbas M. Al-Bakry, has emphasized that “this workshop about Data and Cyber Security is one of many regular workshop that the university is used to hold within the plan of keeping up with the development and the industrial revolution”, calling for “the workshop’s commandments to be a set the basis for dealing with the cyberspace and a realistic application mechanism for data security, by planning for a road map in the pre-setting phase before Data hosting and launching e-services”.

On its first day, the workshop has included three lectures, the first was about (Foundational and Cyberonic Security), presented by Mr. Ali Sami, from SatGate for Information Technology and Communications. The second was about (The Security Awareness in Information Security), presented by the National Team for Cyberonic Events Response/ National Security Advisor Office.
While the third lecture was given by Dr. Ali Taresh, Head of Advisory Office in UoITC, which was about (Application of Information Security Evaluation Programs).

The Workshop of Data and Cyber Security is a part of the governmental program of Digital Transformation that helps evolving Data-centers in governmental organizations.
