The President of the University of Information Technology and Communications Prof. Dr. Abbas M. Al-Bakry received a ministerial committee from the Department of Reconstruction and Projects to review the completion of university readiness for inaugurating the Faculty of Medical Informatics. The Ministerial Committee conducted an inspection tour in the college building and reviewed the classrooms and laboratories that were equipped for the purpose of receiving new students for the academic year 2019-2020.

The President of the University Prof. Dr. Abbas M. Bakry confirmed the readiness of the Faculty of Medical Informatics after completing all the requirements of teaching staff, halls and laboratories to receive new students. The College comprises two departments: Bioinformatics and Intelligent Medical Systems.

The college aims to build human capabilities to implement software tools in bioanalysis to obtain, analyze, interpret and present information to specialists in the fields of pharmacy, medical and biotechnology, and applying the Bio-computing in the treatment of genetic codes in cells and proteins. It also develops and maintains software systems needed by the bioinformatics specialization, develops databases of genes and bioinformatics, maintains databases under use, exports and imports global bioinformatics databases.

It also aims to build the human ability in the field of medical informatics by introducing computer and artificial intelligence applications in medical decision-making processes, archiving and managing medical data in addition to analyzing data and discovering medical knowledge and facts that can not be discovered without the computer and its services.
