A Master’s thesis of computer science was discussed at the Institute of Informatics for Postgraduate Studies (IIPS) at the University of Information Technology and Communications.
The thesis , which was written by researcher Shamim Taha Mohi was titled “Semantic Recognition and Location of Asphalt Cracks by Combining Crack Segmentation and Deep Learning.”
The thesis proposed a unique system for detecting asphalt cracks in roads, relying on deep learning techniques that combine object detection and semantic segmentation, and then identifying their geometric properties using three methods as a framework for object detection.
After discussing the thesis was by the chair and members of the discussion committee, the student obtained a master’s degree with a grade of “very good.”
