The Media Unit and the Student Activities Department at the College of Biomedical Informatics organized an awareness campaign on illegal immigration.
The campaign, organized by the faculty members assist. Lec. Haider Fadel, assist. lec. Dua Jafar, and assist. lec. Omar Hamid, aims to reduce the phenomenon of illegal immigration and highlight its dangers and repercussions on society from all aspects. It seeks to educate the community about the legal consequences that individuals may face by taking such paths, as well as to modify their attitudes and ways of thinking, addressing the root causes of this widespread issue, particularly among youth, through economic development and job creation.
The campaign included a seminar on defining illegal immigration, its types, motivations, forms, and risks to families and Iraqi society. Real-life stories of individuals who migrated illegally and put their lives at risk physically, psychologically, socially, culturally, and economically were shared. A short documentary film from a satellite channel about illegal immigration was also presented.
The campaign coordinators distributed awareness pamphlets to students covering the definition of illegal immigration, its factors, and its negative impacts on society. Posters created by faculty and students were placed in the college corridors to remind everyone of the risks, motivations, and mechanisms of human trafficking.
