The Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Biomedical Informatics Holds a Seminar on Encouraging Women’s Participation in Elections

The Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Biomedical Informatics, University of Information Technology and Communications, held a seminar entitled “Encouraging Women’s Participation in Iraqi Legislative and Local Elections.”

The seminar, presented by Lecturer Rana Abdul Hamid Hadi, aimed to highlight the importance of women’s participation in the electoral process as a fundamental step towards achieving balance in political and social representation, as well as consolidating a culture of citizenship and equality in rights and duties.

The seminar also addressed the most prominent challenges facing women’s participation in elections and the importance of awareness of their influential role in shaping public policies and making national decisions, emphasizing that women’s active participation reflects the maturity and progress of society.

Awareness Campaign to Reduce Breast Cancer

The Women’s Affairs Division at the Presidency of the University of Information Technology and Communications organized an awareness campaign in celebration of Pink October, under the slogan “Together to Reduce Breast Cancer,” aimed at raising awareness about the importance of early detection and promoting a culture of disease prevention.

The campaign included an educational lecture to support early breast cancer screening and emphasize the importance of regular check-ups, presented by lecturer assist. Lec. Nesma Mahmoud Ammar from the College of Engineering. During the campaign, brochures, informational cards, and sweets were distributed to female staff and students, in addition to displaying motivational banners encouraging regular check-ups and general health care.

The campaign organizers emphasized that early detection contributes to faster recovery and provides a longer life, highlighting the importance of instilling healthy behaviors among members of the university community, especially women.

The University organized a seminar on developing e-management skills among administrative staff

The Continuous Education Center, in cooperation with the Business Informatics College at the University of Information Technology and Communications, organized a seminar entitled “Developing Electronic Management Skills” as part of the National Strategy for Education and Training programs for the month of October.
The seminar, presented by Lect. Dr. Asma’a Abdul Hussein Mahdi, addressed the importance of moving from traditional paper-based dealings to advanced electronic systems, given that electronic management represents a fundamental pillar in improving the quality of institutional performance, reducing time and cost, as well as enhancing beneficiary satisfaction and facilitating the completion of transactions.
The symposium recommended the need to train administrative staff and involve them in specialized courses that enable them to master modern technical tools, including artificial intelligence applications, and to adopt e-government as a strategic option to support administrative development and improve government services.
