The Educational Rehabilitation and Guidance Division at the University of Information Technology and Communications, in cooperation with the Department of Labor and Vocational Training at the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, organized a seminar titled “Raising Awareness about Regular Migration, the Dangers of Irregular Migration, and Supporting Returning Migrants.”
The seminar, delivered by Dr. Suha Rashid Aliwi and Dunya Saad Taha from the Labor and Labor Migration Resources Center, addressed raising awareness about regular migration and the dangers of irregular migration, warning against dealing with illegal migrant smuggling gangs and human trafficking gangs, and the importance of supporting returnees from countries of immigration, whether economically or socially, and how to integrate them into Iraqi society. The seminar also emphasized the importance of building the capacity of job seekers and developing their skills through courses at vocational training centers or through self-development. The seminar concluded with several recommendations, the most important of which was the continued cooperation between the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs/Department of Labor and Vocational Training – Labor Resources and Labor Migration Center and universities to hold recurring sessions. It also recommended the development of posters outlining the risks and consequences of irregular migration, and scheduling sessions to accommodate student attendance, given the importance of the topic. This collaboration falls within the framework of achieving Sustainable Development Goal 17 on partnerships for achieving the goals.

In cooperation with the College of Business Informatics, the Qualification, Employment, and Follow-up Division at the University of Information Technology and Communications completed a course for the Riyada Initiative, affiliated with the Council of Ministers. The course was held over five days at the Center (No. 2) under the supervision of the Head of the Qualification and Employment Division at the University, Assistant Professor Dr. Alaa Talal Yasin. Participants were trained to prepare project plans and feasibility studies for small projects. It is worth noting that the “Riyada” initiative was launched under the patronage of the Prime Minister, aiming to enhance a supportive investment environment for youth and job seekers by developing their skills and qualifying them for the labor market through small economic projects. This, in turn, contributes to meeting diverse needs and achieving multiple competencies according to the target segments.
