UoITC Holds a Symposium on Women’s Empowerment & Mental Health Awareness

The Women’s Empowerment Division at the University of Information Technology and Communication (UoITC) organized a scientific symposium on the role of women in society and raising awareness of mental health.
The symposium, which was presented by Dr. Asmaa Abdul Hussein and assistant lecturer Ms. Amani Saleh, covered two lectures. The first lecture clarified some concepts related to societies and how to differentiate them from the misconceptions that are attached which are circulated on social media.
The lecture also shed light on the similarities and differences between the sexes in the field of work, as well as the conditions for empowering women in governmental and private institutions.
The second lecture highlighted the importance of mental health awareness and the basic problems to which the individual and society are exposed, in addition to presenting the basic foundation that works to achieve and enhance mental health.

Psychological Counseling Division Holds Awareness Workshop on Drugs & Cyber Blackmailing

The Division of Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance at the University of Information Technology and Communication (UoITC) held an educational awareness workshop on drugs and cyber blackmailing for the students of the faculties of Engineering and Biomedical Informatics.

The workshop was held under the title (Drugs and Cyber Blackmailing are two sides of the same coin).

Lecturer Nidhal al-Abadi pointed out, for a number of teachers, staff and students, the dangers of drugs on the individual, family and society and how to combat and reduce them.

Chief engineer Mr. Saleh Al-Shammari touched upon the dangers of cyber blackmailing and the legal provisions to combat blackmailing of all kinds with evidence and cases that have been addressed.

Mr. Al-Shammari also pointed out the cooperation of the state agencies in helping the victim and the severe punishment of the blackmailer.

The workshop came within the government’s programs of implementing training projects, workshops and seminars under the guidance of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

The President of the University of Information Technology and Communication, Prof. Abbas Mohsen Al-Bakri, met with the university’s teachers to discuss a number of important issues.

At the beginning of his speech, Al-Bakri praised all the university’s employees on the occasion of the university students’ graduation celebration. Al-Bakri also mentioned the educational and ethical role of the teacher, transferring successful experiences to students, setting a good example for them, and allocating an amount of lecture time to provide advice and admonition in light of the deviant circumstances and ideas that spread among young people in the world.  In general, eliminating imported ideas and practices that contradict our religion and morals.

Al-Bakri praised the humanitarian initiative launched by His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research from our university, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, to help those affected by the earthquake in Syria, and added that the university will collect donations through a fund designated for this matter.  Children, which is an actual and urgent need for life, in addition to medical and nutritional materials.

The president of the university and his scientific and administrative assistants also touched on the subject of scientific research and publication in international and local magazines, especially the university magazine, and the possibility of addressing or developing solutions to problems and crises through scientific research, as the specialization of the university and its faculties is included in all areas of life, and attention was focused on the reality of projects and programs presented by students  Especially the projects that are selected to participate in the job fair, which will be attended by institutions and companies from both sectors, and thus can be marketed to some of the beneficiaries.
